They're All Gonna Laugh At You
PRE-ORDER : 4-6 WEEK TURNAROUND - NOTE THIS ITEM IS MADE TO ORDER AND WILL SHIP IN THE ORDER OF PRE-ORDER RECEIVED. YOU CAN EXPECT A 4-6 WEEK TURNAROUND .
Appx 18” (Hanging length) and 9” wide. Stained Glass, Metal, Wood, Copper Foil, Tin/Lead Decorative Solder, Zinc (Top Curtain Frame)
Inspired by the infamous scene in Carrie, based on the novel by Stephen King. The All-American teenage dream is drenched in cruelty. One of my favorite parts about making this piece was finally recognizing this scene was entirely designed to reflect the 1976 version of the idilic American life. The prom production design was dripping in blue, silver stars, and gold lettering, while the blonde-haired blue-eyed Sissy Spacek is in a white silk (almost wedding) dress. The bright red pigs blood ties the flag together in what sets off the death of that idealism by burning it all to the ground.
Or I have just been over-thinking this movie? At the suggestion of someone I met at a show - I simply had to translate it into glass.
This piece does welcome backlight with its partial transparency but it also works well on a white wall. It’s the perfect conversation piece for a horror collector and Carrie fans!
Each make of this will naturally feature slight variations in glass texture/color because of how it is manufactured. Each versions solder will vary based on the nature of hand-making each piece. Liquid metal does what it wants. I also hand-burn the lettering so depth and color may vary. I hand made the miniature stage lights, so they may also vary slightly.
